Hunting in Zimbabwe
This is hunting open areas is the truest sence. There are nophysical boundaries restricting game movement. Not between the various properties or from the National Park. Game densities are subsequently significantle lower than found in South Africa on the game farms.
It simply means that we have to work harder over vast distances to ensure your sucksessfull safari.
The process basically entails driving the boundaries until promosing trackes are found. Then on foot until the potential candidate is found, and selected or passed. It requires some fittness and good tracking.
The safari area
Our main Safari areas are situated in the western part of Zimbabwe, to the East of Hwange National Park. The areas are on privately owned land and we use a combination of these depending on the species hunted. The effective area varies between 75 000 Acres to about 200 000 Acres depending on species hunted. The vegetation is tree rich bushveld, varying from open terrain to really thick bush.
How to get there
We recommend that you fly to Johannesburg and then take a connecting flight to Bulawayo. The best is to fly SA Airlink for the final leg, as they are the only local airline that transports fire arms. A representative of Danie Wingard Safaris or Kuronda Safaris will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hunting camp and back.
The Camp
Our main camp is less than 3 hour drive from Bulawayo and about 100 miles from Victoria falls. The main camp has three comfortable chalets for client use and adequate PH and staff accommodation. Alternate venues may be used depending on what will give you the best experience based on the specific area selected for your hunt.
Hot and cold water is available as well as 220V electricity is available. All services from laundry to cooking are provided. All the client chalets have en suite bathrooms with shower. The camp has a central lounge and dining room.
We provide a good regional beer and wine. Please notify us in advance of your food and drinks preferences.
Temporary fire-
The process into and out of Zimbabwe is reasonably painless. We will assist you with the documentation.
Should you have a stopover at Johannesburg, we will direct you to one of our partners to ensure that all formalities at that airport is smoothed and painless to you.
Export of trophies
Trophies are shipped periodically to a shipping agent in Bulawayo. We currently use Matabeleland Taxidermy. They will dip, pack and ship to your taxidermy, or do the taxidermy and mounting of your trophy. The shipping agent (most likely Outbound Cargo & Trophy Exporters) will contact you as soon as they receive the trophies with a quote and confirmation of shipping details.
